SSI Enriched Air Nitrox
Explore Tours
The SSI enhanced Air Nitrox programs teach pupils the fundamentals of utilizing breathing gas with enhanced gas mixes for safe diving.
Program Specifics
Nitrox Enriched Air (SSI). The core.
Enjoying longer no-decompression limits with enriched air is your goal. It is your motivation to reduce the possibility of decompression sickness. You may schedule your next dives to either extend bottom time or improve safety with the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox program.
By the conclusion of the course, you will know how to plan and safely execute each dive, assess your breathing mixture, pick the right Nitrox blend for your dive profile, and calculate the maximum depth restrictions for your Nitrox mixture.
The physiology of nitrogen and oxygen, the benefits, drawbacks, and dangers of nitrox, the elements of oxygen toxicity, and the risks and safety measures associated with handling oxygen will all be covered.
We instruct you in gas mixing techniques, nitrox mixture analysis, and cylinder labeling.
Nitrox from enriched air is being used more and more. And with good reason. When properly administered, nitrox lengthens your bottom time relative to regular air. Longer repeated dives are made possible by enriched air, which lowers the amount of nitrogen introduced to your system.
You must acknowledge that the nitox combination has a rock bottom limit. Even with the smallest error margins, oxygen poisoning might occur if you fall below. To further your understanding of this diving field, SSI provides a thorough recreational nitrox certification specialist course.
Nitrox Enriched Air (SSI). The prerequisites.
- Age requirement: 10 years old
- possess the SSI certificates listed below, or their equivalents from an accredited training organization:
- Diver Referral
- Open Water Diver training can be paired with Diving Knowledge Specialty programs.
Nitrox Enriched Air (SSI). the sessions of training.
Included in SSI Enriched Air Nitrox are:
- Overview of Nitrox
- Your Body, Nitrox, and the Undersea World

SSI Enriched Air Nitrox: Method of Learning.
You may learn how to properly plan and dive with enriched air mixes that include up to 40% oxygen by enrolling in the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox program. When compared to air, diving with enriched air can shorten the duration of your surface intervals, improve safety, and raise your no-decompression limits. Upon completion of this training, you will receive the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 32% or 40% certification. Nitrox use necessitates specialized training, planning ahead, and readiness.
The handbook is the first component of the SSI course. With review questions at the conclusion of each chapter, the simple-to-read language reinforces each lesson and goes over each element step-by-step.
An summary of Nitrox, including its misconceptions, advantages, and disadvantages, is provided in the first chapter. The second chapter provides a lesson on the physics and physiology of nitrox diving, covering topics such as oxygen toxicity, depth restrictions, and the idea that oxygen partial pressure determines nitrox depth and duration limits.
The equipment concerns for diving with enriched air are summarized in this chapter. This covers things like cylinder markings and the necessity of inspecting each nitrox tank before using it. Because nitrox mixes differ from standard airfills, divers must individually verify each tank’s oxygen level.
The actual art of nitrox diving, which involves using these unique nitrox tables in advance of the dive, is covered in Chapter 4.
Certification for SSI Enriched Air Nitrox.
- The digital certification card for the program may be issued by the SSI Professional when all academic criteria have been fulfilled.
- Within the suggested depth limitations of their certificates and in settings similar to their training, certified SSI divers are permitted to dive with a friend who is just as competent as they are.
- In the relevant program, students under the age of 15 will get certification as SSI Junior Divers, allowing them to dive in situations similar to their training and within the advised depth limitations while being closely supervised by a diving expert or accompanied by a qualified adult.
