Program Specifics
The SSI Dive Guide. The core.
As a recreational diver, you are considering the first step in sharing your love of scuba diving with other divers.
Devoted divers who want to become teachers can enroll in the SSI Dive Guide course. They will have a fulfilling experience in the course with Divemaster.
The purpose of this curriculum is to provide an introduction to the world of professional scuba divers. You will be able to lead certified divers on a range of scuba diving excursions as a dive guide.
After completing the snorkel instructor module, you can teach snorkel diving, grant snorkel diver certificates, and provide underwater tours to certified scuba divers.
The SSI Dive Guide. The prerequisites.
- Age requirement: 15 years old To operate as a Professional Dive Guide in active status, you must be at least eighteen years old.
- possess a minimum of 40 open water dives with a minimum duration of 25 hours.
possess the SSI certificates listed below, or their equivalents from an accredited training organization:
- Stress & Rescue for Divers
possess the SSI certificates listed below, an equivalent from an accredited training organization, or demonstrate experience by presenting at least five (5) logged experience dives in each of the following categories:
- Going Deep
- Getting Around
- Night and Dim Visibility

Certified divers can be led and guided by SSI Dive Guides. Among the training sessions are:
- Every item
- Extremely skilled and knowledgeable dive guide instructor
- Every boat dive
- Card of certification
With this globally recognized certification, you will be eligible for the following benefits:
- Provide qualified divers with underwater trips.
- After completing the snorkeling instructor module and problem-solving process, teach snorkeling. A snorkel
- After completing the Science of Diving Specialty program, enroll in an SSI Dive Control Specialist program.
There are restrictions. Dive guides are not permitted to lead, instruct, or help with any SSI training courses for scuba divers who are not qualified.
