Divers who want to better find, explore, and enjoy the underwater world through research methodologies as well as better conserve and safeguard it can enroll in the SSI Search and Recovery course. The open water diver learns about the exciting subject of research diving in this course.
Through SSI’s organized Search and Recovery curriculum, you will learn how to plan search and recovery operations as a team and execute various search patterns using ropes and compasses. In order to safely raise large things to the surface, you will also learn how to use one or more lifting bags.

- 18 is the minimum age.
- 15 years old or older with parental approval
- Certification as an Open Water Scuba Diver.

SSI Search & Recovery: Method of Learning.
Take the Search and Recovery Specialty Course by enrolling. With digital learning, you may use your computer, smartphone, or tablet to study whenever and wherever it’s convenient for you. The benefit? You may study at your own speed and save time.
You will perform two open water dives, one confined water training, and academic sessions and evaluations during this course. You will ultimately take the final test.
Certified by SSI Search & Recovery.
The program’s digital certification card may be issued by the SSI Professional if all academic and in-water criteria have been fulfilled.
Within the suggested depth limitations of their certificates and in settings similar to their training, certified SSI divers are permitted to dive with a friend who is just as competent as they are.
In the relevant program, students under the age of 15 will get certification as SSI Junior Divers, allowing them to dive in situations similar to their training and within the advised depth limitations while being closely supervised by a diving expert or accompanied by a qualified adult.
